About our Teachers

Susan Franzblau, PhD, E-RYT, Owner


Susan has been studying yoga for over 13 years. She has also studied in Los Angeles, and has received her teacher training and advanced teacher training from the world-renowned White Lotus foundation in Santa Barbara, California. She has also studied at Lighten Up! Yoga & Healing Arts Center in Asheville, North Carolina. In Asheville she has studied Anatomy, Physiology & Yoga practice under Roger Cole PhD. She has studied Thai Yoga Massage with Kam Thye Chow at the international headquarters of the Integral Yoga Institute in Buckingham, VA. She has also studied with Erich Schiffmann and likes his concept of moving into stillness. Susan is a member of Yoga Alliance as a Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher. She was certified by the Asheville Yoga Center in 2003 as a prenatal and postpartum yoga instructor. Susan has also taught Yoga to blind and disabled people at the Vision Resource Center in Fayetteville. She also does psychological research on the positive mental health effects of pranayama (breath control). Susan, her partner, and her dog Bella live in Historical Downtown Fayetteville.


Sandra Sierra, RYT


Sandra has been an avid yoga practitioner for over 12 years. Founder and former owner of Yoga Sensations, in Stamford, Connecticut, she comes to Om with an open heart, a love of yoga, a fabulous sense of humor, and a yearning to inspire her students to be guided from within. Sandra has been registered with Yoga Alliance since 2002, after completing her 200 hour certification. Sandra completed a 100 hour advanced training in 2007, and is pursuing her 500 hour RYT through Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica, which she hopes to complete in February 2008. Sandra has studied with Don and Amba Stapleton, Rodnee Yee, John Friend, Baron Baptiste, and holds a special place in her heart for her Guru, Erich Schiffmann.

Clare Tran, Certified Ashtanga Yoga Teacher


Clare is a certified Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga teacher who trained through It's Yoga in San Francisco. Her teacher was Larry Schultz. Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga was developed by Krishnamacharya, who was a healer, scholar, and yogi. He transmitted this practice to Iyengar and Pattabhi Jois. Jois developed this system which focuses on the flow of postures, linked by movement and breath. Clare is an avid runner and has found physical and mental balance and strength through yoga. She is passionate about physical fitness, baking, and volunteer work in the community. CLARE WILL BE AWAY FOR TEN MONTHS AND KATHERINE WILL BE TEACHING HER MONDAY/WEDNESDAY CLASSES.

Katherine Huynh, Teacher in Training


Katherine has been an enthusiastic student of yoga for over 8 years and is currently pursuing her 200 hour teaching certification through Seaside Yoga and OM Yoga Studio in Fayetteville. Born and raised in NJ, she discovered yoga through a local gym and attributes it to helping her gain mental clarity, physical strength and spiritual growth. Katherine's classes are relaxing with emphasis on the breath to guide her students through a posture. She enjoys reading, cooking, baking and spending time with her loved ones.

Jessica Payton, RYT


Jessica has been practicing yoga for 6 years and teaching for nearly 3 years. After more than 18 years of dance, she found yoga to be a great way to stay fit and challenged as an outlet for her creative energy. Her classes are always powerful and challenging with strong emphases on learning proper alignment and honoring the body. In addition to yoga, Jessica also teaches Pilates, aqua aerobics, and the occasional dance class. Jessica and her husband and two children live near Methodist University where she earned her BA in English.
